This single-hand keyboard is one of three keyboards co-designed for users with a physical disability by British electronic products manufacturer Stephen Hobday and keyboard training expert Lillian Malt. The original single-hand keyboard was developed in 1974, and P.C.D. Maltron, Ltd. began production of five different ergonomic keyboards in 1977. The purpose of the concave surface of Maltron keyboards is to compensate for the different lengths and placement of the fingers. Single-hand keyboards were developed for those who need to perform keyboard operations with one hand.
