Type 'n Speak was an electronic notetaker with voice output, designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. The unit required no knowledge of Braille, featured a standard QWERTY computer-style keyboard with Braille mode, and offered full Braille translation features. Blazie, the manufacturer, was formed in 1999 and based in the UK.

A monocular is a modified refracting telescope used to magnify the image of distant objects. Visually impaired people may use monoculars to see objects at distances at which people with normal vision do not have difficulty. Monoculars are ideally suited to those with vision in only one eye. They are sometimes preferred over binoculars by people who have significant eye variation or poor vision in one eye.
